Newletter Heading. Takes Two.

2010 Edition 3

“Good things come to those who wait.”

Hello There...

MODERATION - What a boring word, often equated with dullness or the ordinary... In our hedonistic society of immediate gratification it’s hardly a fashionable philosophy – so why is excessiveness - always a more alluring and daring past-time?

We yearn for elation –that immeasurable moment of exhilaration and supreme joy -where the ego ceases and we are transported towards instant glee... Our ADDICTIONS create that short cut to the soul where artificial leisure creates pleasure. In the 70’s Baba Ram Das said about LSD; “ the problem with it is, that it’s like jumping on a spring in front of a door and seeing heaven, and having to come down again.”

Now there’s the thing, being back in the mystery of your everyday life...The pace is slower than our short cut to pleasure, more deliberate...Slowly but life begins to flow through every part of us, no holds. This too is ensued  by a gravitational field which attracts simplicity and retrieves our innocence.

Ironically, MODERATION affords us with the physical and emotional stamina to live the fullest.

Warmest Wishes,

Hanlie Raath
